Palmetto Dramatic Association
The Palmetto Dramatic Association was formed in 1955 by William Long, theatre department chairperson at Winthrop University to give high school students (primarily Mary Long, his wife's students at Rock Hill High) an opportunity to showcase their theatre skills and to network with fellow theatre students across the State of South Carolina. While the format of the festival has evolved over the decades, the Association has stayed true to the mission of developing and encouraging theatre in South Carolina secondary schools.
